RUDY LANJOUW

His compositions are based on the layering of complex structures. These appear like distortions, shifts and breaks in his paintings, and can also be read as metaphors or lyrical encodings of his "compositions without words" The composition of the pictures is characterized by the two dimensional interlacing, the graduation of the underlay, the line and the colored accent, whereby Rudy Lanjouw succeeds in a moving, fine-minded balance of the complex individual structures. In the encounter between spatial representation and abstraction, open image spaces and light-flooded fields are created, that cross amorphous lines. The inner space is perceived not as a void, but rather as an exiting centre, while the lines striving in all directions, guide the viewer's eye as a coordinated system, without being firmly anchored  in the image itself.
